Chitty + Family Portraits | Nagold, Germany

When Kari contacted me to arrange family portraits, she asked that I capture 75% of them looking.  I loved her realistic expectation of having children (...and a husband) in photos :)  I laughed when I read her email and already knew I would enjoy taking their pictures.  I love down to earth people who realize that family portraits are about capturing life in that moment, rather than creating a perfect moment with perfect smiles.  Don't get me wrong, I love when everyone is happily looking at me, but I also love moments like the photo below where Charlotte is gazing up to her big sister Ruby and smiling.  Their bond is evident and so natural.  I didn't have to pose them.  They were simply being themselves as I was in the near distance snapping away.  I love capturing bonds between people and I know they'll cherish the photos of them giggling together when they are older.  Life happens so fast and kids grow even faster so it is important to capture family portraits that truly represent the families in front of me.  I'm happy to have photographed yet another family at a castle!  I won't be able to say that when I get back to Virginia!
